Micro - Preemie Baby Hats

I decided to make micro-preemie sizes of a few of my little hats -
perfect for very early premature babies or Angel babies born too soon.

Micro – Preemie Baby Hats                   

6“ circumference,  3“ high


Jay     ~        Micro - Preemie Baby Hats

Using 4mm needles& DK yarn, cast on 29sts

Border ~

1st Row:  S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row once more

Pattern ~

3rd Row:        S1, knit to end of row

4th Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

5th Row:        S1, * s1, k1, psso, yo, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

6th Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

7th Row:        S1, knit to end of row

8th Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows once more

 
Work should now measure around 1½”

13th Row:       S1, knit to end of row

14th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

 
Shape Top ~

Next Row:      *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (22sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (15sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                    (8sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

 
Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

 


Jack & Jill     ~        Micro - Preemie Baby Hats


 
Using 4mm needles& DK yarn, cast on 29sts

Border ~

1st Row:  S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row once more

Pattern ~

3rd Row:        S1, knit to end of row

4th Row:        S1, *p3, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 1½”

Next Row:      S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

 
Shape Top ~

 
Next Row:      *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (22sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (15sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                    (8sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1
