Milk & Sugar Baby Hat

Such a sweet pattern for a new baby. 
Newborn size for now - and I will add more sizes soon.

Milk & Sugar Baby Hat

Version 1
Size: 
Width:    5½” (14cm),   11” (28cm) all around 
Height:   5¼“ (13.5cm)

Requires:
DK yarn ~ around 15g
4mm needles

Pattern:  
Using 4mm needles cast on 62sts
Knit 8 rows

Change to 4.5mm needles
Row 9:          S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 10:        S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 11:        S1, * k3, p1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 12:        S1, * k1, p3, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 13:        S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 14:        S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 15:        S1, k1,* p1, k3, rep from * to end
Row 16:        S1, p2, * k1, p3, rep from * to last 3sts, k1, p1, k1
Repeat rows 9 – 16 once more
Repeat rows 9 – 14 once more


Shape the top ~

Row 1:             Knit across row to the last 3sts, K2tog, k1                                        61sts
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10:              S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 3:             * K4, k2tog, repeat from * to last s, k1                                              51sts  
Row 5:             * K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                             41sts
Row 7:             * K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                            31sts
Row 9:             * K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                            21sts
Row 11:           * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                                   11sts
Row 12:              P2tog across the row to last st, k1                                                 6sts

 Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up
With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure
Sew up side seam and darn away ends.


Version 2
Size: 
Width:    5½” (14cm),   11” (28cm) all around 
Height:   5¼“ (13.5cm)

Requires:
DK yarn ~ around 15g

Change back to 4mm needles
Row 23:           S1, knit to end
Row 24:           S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat the last 2 rows three times more

Row 16:        S1, * k1, p3, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 17:        S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 18:        S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 19:        S1, k1,* p1, k3, rep from * to end
