Charlie - Baby Beanie Hat

There just aren't enough cute free patterns for baby boys - so I hope to add a few more over the next couple of months, starting with this easy little baby hat.


Charlie - Baby Beanie Hat              0- 3 months


Charlie

 

Baby Hat              9months

 

 

Size:

Width:    6 ½ “ (16.5cm)   13” (33cm) all around 

 

Height:   6 ½ “ (16.5cm)

 

Requires:

 

DK yarn

 

4mm needles

 

Pattern:

 

Cast on 72sts

 

1st Row:       S1, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 3sts, k3

2nd Row:      S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more

11th Row:     S1, knit across row

12th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

13th Row:     S1, k2, * p2, k2, rep from * to last st, k1

14th Row:     S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

15th Row:     S1, knit across row

16th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows three times more, increase 1stitch at beg of last row           73sts

 

Shape the top ~
1st  Row:  (K6, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1             64sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th  Rows:  Purl
3rd  Row:  (K5, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1            55sts
5th  Row:  (K4, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1            46sts
7th  Row:  (K3, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1            37sts
9th  Row:  (K2, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1            28sts
11th  Row (K1, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1            19sts
12th  Row (P2 tog) repeat to last st, k1                   10sts
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends.

14th Row:     S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

15th Row:     S1, knit across row

16th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows twice more, increase 1stitch at beginning of last row          65sts

4mm needles

 

Pattern:

 

Cast on 56sts

 

1st Row:       S1, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 3sts, k3

2nd Row:      S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more

9th Row:       S1, knit across row

10thRow:     S1, purl to last st, k1

11thRow:     S1, k2, * p2, k2, rep from * to last st, k1

12thRow:     S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

13thRow:     S1, knit across row

14thRow:     S1, purl to last st, k1

Charlie Baby Hat with a Bow





To make a bow ~

Cast on 15sts

Knit 7 rows

Cast off

Wrap a length of yarn round the middle 4 or 5 times, and pull tight.

Attach to the hat. Darn away ends.
