Bonnie Earwarmer Headband ~ For Aran weight OR DK yarn
Use Aran weight yarn for a cosy Earwarmer !
Requires:
5mm needles
Aran weight yarn – around 40g
Cable needle
Tension:
18sts = 4” (10cm)
Size:
Width – 5” (12.5cm)
Length – 18” (easy to adjust)
Or DK yarn for a lighter Earwarmer
Requires:
4mm needles
DK yarn – around 20g
Cable needle
Tension:
22sts = 4” (10cm)
Size:
Width – 4” (10cm)
Length – 18” (easy to adjust)
Top Tip ~ C4 means cable 4 stitches– slip the next 2 stitches on to a cable needle and hold at the back or the front of your work (whichever you find easiest). Knit 2sts, then the 2sts from the cable needle.
It doesn’t matter if you cable back or front – as long as you are consistent throughout.
There are 2 cables – you can cable them both the same way OR cable one back and cable one front if you prefer.
Cast on 24sts
Row 1: K5, p2, k4, p2, k4, p2, k5
Row 2: K7, p4, k2, p4, k7
Row 3: K5, p2, C4, p2, C4, p2, k5
Row 4: K7, p4, k2, p4, k7
Repeat these last 4 rows until your work measure 18” from the cast on edge for an average size woman’s head – ending after working a Row 3.
It is easy to adjust the length.
Cast off
Join the cast on and cast off edges with a short seam. Darn away ends
To make other sizes ~ Measure the head, then subtract 3” and work until that length.
