Tivoli Baby Hats

This cute little hat uses an unusual twist - this is done by the instruction k2tog-fb.

To do this, you knit 2 stitches together into the front and then into the back of both stitches together. 

It has a lovely result.

Width:             5½” (14cm)   11” (28cm) all around 

Height:            5¼” (13.25cm)

Requirements:
DK yarn ~ around 14g – 16g
4mm needles

Instructions:

Cast on 57sts

Row 1:          S1, *k2, p2, rep from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1

Row 2:          S1, k1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows twice more

Row 7:          S1, * k2tog-fb, k2, rep from * to end

Row 8:          S1, k1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Row 9:          S1, knit to end

Row 10:        S1, k1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Row 11:        S1, knit to end

Row 12:        S1, k1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows 3 times more

Row 31:        S1, knit to end

Row 32:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Shape the top ~
1^st Row:  (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             49sts
2^nd, 4^th, 6^th, 8^th Rows:    S1, purl to last st, k1
3^rd Row:  (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              41sts
5^th Row:  (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              33sts
7^th Row:  (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              25sts
9^th Row:  (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              17sts
10^th Row (P2tog) repeat to last st, k1                                    9sts
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends
