Jasmine Baby Hat         for a baby of 0 – 3 months
 
Size:
 
Width:    5½ - 6 “,           11 - 12 “ all around 
Height:   5½ - 6 “
 
Tension: 
 
22sts = 4" (10cm)
 
Requires:
 
DK (8ply) yarn
 
 
Pattern Instructions:
 
Using DK yarn and 4mm needles ~
 
Cast on 64sts
 
Rows 1 - 4             S1, knit to end
 
**  Row 5               S1, *yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Row 6                     S1, *yo, p2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1
Repeat last 2 rows once more
 
Rows 9 -14             S1, knit to end **
 
Repeat from ** to ** twice more
 
Row 35                   S1, knit to last st, k1
 
Row 36                   S1, purl to last st, k1
 
Row 37                   S1, knit to last st, kfb                 65sts
 
Row 38                   S1, purl to last st, k1
 

Shape the top ~
1
st  Row:      (K6, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1            57sts
2
nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th  Rows:  Purl
3
rd  Row:      (K5, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1           49sts
5
th  Row:      (K4, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1           41sts
7
th  Row:      (K3, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1           33sts
9
th  Row:      (K2, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1          25sts
11
th  Row     (K1, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1           17sts
12
th  Row     (P2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    9sts
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends.
