Harebell  Baby Hat            Medium Premature



 

Size:
Width:             4½ “ (11.5cm)       9” (23cm) all around 

Height:            4½ “ (11.5cm)      

 

Requirements:
Around 10g of DK yarn

4mm needles  

 

Pattern:

Cast on 49sts
1stRow:            S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row 7 times more

 

9thRow:           S1, * k4, p4, repeat from * to end

10thRow:         S1, k3, p4, * k4, p4, repeat from * to last st, k1

 

Repeat the last 2 rows 8 times more

 

Shape Top ~

 

Next Row:        S1, *k4, p2tog, p2tog, repeat from * to end                                               (37sts)

Next Row:       S1, k1, * p4, k2, repeat from * to last 5sts, p4, k1

Next Row:        S1, *s1, k1, psso, k2tog, p2, repeat from * to end                                     (25sts)

Next Row:       S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Next Row:        S1, *k2, p2tog, repeat from * to end                                                          (19sts)

Next Row:       S1, *p2tog, k1, repeat from * to end                                                         (13sts)

Next Row:       *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1          `                                                   (7sts)

 

For the top-knot ~

Knit 14 rows

Cast off

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Tie a knot in the top-knot rows

 

If you do not want a top-knot ~

When you have 7sts remaining, cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

12thRow:         S1, k4, * p5, k5, repeat from * to last st, k1

 

Repeat the last 2 rows 11 times more

(Work should now measure around 4½” – it is easy to adjust the length here)

Next Row:        S1, *k5, p2tog, p1, p2tog, repeat from * to end                                         (49sts)

Next Row:       S1, k2, * p5, k3, repeat from * to last 6sts, p5, k1

Next Row:        S1, *s1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, p3, repeat from * to end                                (37sts)
